The Spaulding Police Department is increasing DUI and seatbelt enforcement between Nov. 19 and Dec. 1 to crack down on offenders around the Thanksgiving holiday.
In Illinois, during the 2012 Thanksgiving holiday, nine vehicle occupants died in motor vehicle traffic crashes, three of the deaths involved an impaired driver and over 700 individuals were injured.
We will be doing our part to help reduce those numbers for 2013.
This crackdown is being held in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police.
"The Spaulding Police would like to remind the public to designate a sober driver and to buckle up this Thanksgiving holiday.
This law enforcement crackdown is funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
